Asma Khan

Project information
For Asma Khan, the monsoon isn’t just a season – it’s the feeling of her childhood. It’s the feeling of dancing with her father, it’s every recipe she grew up eating in a home full of an endless stream of people who came to eat there everyday because the food was just so good.
The Kolkata born chef made us all fall in love with her in 2019 when she was the first British chef to feature on Chef’s Table, sharing the story of her move to England and how she founded Darjeeling Express, her award-winning London restaurant composed entirely of women, most of whom have had no professional culinary training and are from immigrant or disadvantaged backgrounds.
We met her in December to film for the launch of her new book “Monsoon” and we present this short piece telling you more about the book and her love of the rain.
One of those very excellent projects we feel very lucky to have worked on.
